Just 10 Days Left to Register at the Regular Price!

April 30th is just around the corner!

Today is April 20th–there are just 10 days left to register for INANE 2018 at the regular price of $525. On May 1st the price will rise by $100. So…if you are planning on attending INANE 2018, don’t delay, register today!

Registering now also helps the planning committee know how many things we need to order, such as the INANE tote bag and name badges. INANE operates on a shoe-string budget, so we plan accordingly. We want to make sure to have enough items for everyone but we don’t want to be wasteful and over order. When May rolls around we’ll be just 3 months out from the conference and we will need to start buying supplies. So help us have an accurate head count and register today!

In case you haven’t looked at the program recently, we have added an exciting optional event to the schedule: a cocktail reception at the Paul Russell MD Museum of Medical Innovation. The party will be held on Tuesday, August 7 from 6 to 8 pm. There is a limit of 120 guests at the reception and it is filling up fast, so register today so you won’t be disappointed! Click here to be taken to the registration page!

Margaret Comerford Freda Award for Editorial Leadership – Nominations Open!

As the weather starts warming up, and the sun is actually shining, many start making plans for the summer. A highlight of the summer is the annual INANE conference, held to promote editorial excellence in nursing. The INANE conference provides opportunities for editors to meet and network with other editors to share their

Margaret Comerford Freda

experiences. At the INANE conference editors receive the latest updates in publishing and strategies for ensuring editorial excellence. Margaret Comerford Freda was an editor who exemplified excellence in editorial leadership in nursing. Therefore, in 2012 the Margaret Comerford Freda Leadership Award for editorial leadership in nursing was established. Currently, the criteria and application for the Margaret Comerford Freda Leadership Award are available on the INANE website. Please consider nominating a nurse editor who demonstrates editorial leadership in nursing for the Margaret Comerford Freda Leadership Award. Applications for the 2018 Margaret Comerford Freda Leadership Award are due April 15th, 2018.  Here is the form

Only 3 weeks to submit your abstract!

The due date for submission of abstracts for the 2018 INANE conference is 3 weeks from today – January 31st!  This is your opportunity to showcase your expertise, share with colleagues ideas that benefit everyone, and discuss issues that challenge us all!  Do you have a passion for a particular approach to managing your journal?  Have you discovered a new resource or idea that has benefited your work as Editor?  Is there a burning challenge that you have faced and want to discuss with your colleagues?  All of these, and more, are ideas that make a great abstract, which in turn become one of the breakout sessions that are a highlight of our annual conference.

We have four 50-minute breakout sessions planned for the program, which means there is room for 12 sessions – and you could be one of them!  Head on over to the Call for Abstracts for all the details about our easy submissions process, and get your abstract in soon – certainly before January 31st!

Reminder – Due Dates for INANE 2018 in Boston!

The end-of-year celebrations are now upon us, and in the hustle and bustle it is easy to overlook important due dates coming up for our 2018 INANE conference, which will be in Boston August 6-8, 2018!  So here, in a nutshell, are the dates you will not want to miss if you are connected to INANE in any way, or want to be!

  • Early bird registration ends at midnight EST on January 15thRegister for $425, and save $100 on the regular registration rate
  • Abstracts for breakout and for poster presentations are due no later than January 31! We have a terrific line-up of general sessions, but breakout sessions and posters add an important dimension to our not-to-be-missed annual conference!  Add your voice to our program – a burning issue you want to discuss, a great idea that you have implemented for your journal, emerging technologies or media tools that you are exploring — these are just a few possibilities to consider!
  • Liberty Hotel reservations at the conference room rate are not yet urgent, but be aware that the deadline for the conference room rate is July 11th!  This is a fabulous venue that might seem a bit pricey compared to some of our other hotel rates in recent years, but as a person who is extending my stay outside of the dates for the conference, I can assure you that the conference rate is a huge savings!  Use the link on our website for the INANE conference room rate; if you encounter any issues making your reservation, the hotel representatives can help!
  • Suzanne Smith Mentoring Editors Award applications are due February 1st.  If you are new to nursing journal editing, know someone else who is new, or know someone who is interested in becoming a nursing journal editor, this is a terrific opportunity!  Check out the details here, and don’t let the February 1st date slip away!
  • Conference sponsorships are welcome time, but if you or someone you know is interested in sponsoring our conference, don’t delay! Find out all the details here.

Our annual conferences are truly not-to-be missed opportunities for staying up-to-date with the massive changes in our current publishing climate, and for networking with colleagues who are at the forefront of dealing with these challenges!  Hope to see you there.
